Ahhh...a relaxing three-day weekend. For some people. My #2 son
was up at 5:00 a.m. today. On school days, I have to wake him at
6:30. He slept on the couch last night, because he has a cold, and
he can keep his head up on the armrest so he doesn't cough so
much. Did he get up and turn on the TV for himself? Let me answer
for you: NO! He said, in a pitiful voice, "Daaaad?" Of course HH
snored right through it. But my MomDar kicked in, and I woke up.
It was kind of like when he was ready to vomit, and inquired to the
dark, deserted living room, "Hellooooo?"
I got up, made sure there was no vomit in my future, got him some
water, and told him to turn on the TV and leave me alone. I know.
My mothering skills leave a little to be desired. #2 said he wanted
Dad, because he wanted to know if he was ready to go to the
Labor Day Picnic and ride some rides. Umm...I don't think they
start until around noon. We always go on Monday, anyway.
Lunch was a trip to CiCi's Pizza. Hey! They raised their prices by
about $.50. I KNEW I should have waited in line for the cheap
gas the other day. I hate their pizza, but it was slightly better, and
the salad was good. The boys both ate a platter of noodles. They
live for carbs, those two.
After lunch we headed to the Humane Society to look at puppies,
but the puppies were having a three-day weekend themselves, as
the place was closed. We'll try again in a couple weeks.
Tomorrow's plans include a trip to the casino for ME. HH is going
to drop me off, and take the boys to see a ship or some such thing.
I have a sneaking suspicion that they will end up at Bass Pro Shop,
but who cares...I'LL BE AT THE CASINO! After that, we're
going to Chuck E. Cheese to use up some coupons. You can never
feed kids too much pizza. They even eat it at Chuck E.'s place. It
helps that we nag, "No games until you eat your pizza!"
That's the plan. More news as it develops.

OMG!! I never thought of it as a "Momdar", now it will always be described as such!! I definitely have one of them there Mumdars, it prevents me from having a full night sleep when the kids have a cold or somthing like that...grrr.
Casino time! Woot! You'll have to let us know the big money that you win. I have a "sad" casino story that happened to hubby and I recently. LAST year for hubby's birthday, we ate Ameristar's brunch. It was ssooooo good..it had mimosas and a chocolate fountain that you could dip all kinds of stuff in...yum.
This year, we decided to continue to the tradition, but we both got confused and went to Harrah's brunch. OMG...it was an overpriced Hometown Buffet...no wait, it was WORSE than Hometown Buffet. The french toast was dry, the eggs...I don't even know where to begin with the eggs. And there was no alcohol to wash the yucky taste out of your mouth.
We're going to go back to Ameristar in a few weeks to undo the Harrah's experience.

Cazzie,
Never underestimate the power of Momdar. When my #2 son was about 10 months old, I put him to bed in his crib like any other night. My Hillbilly Mama was staying with us, because HH was in Germany for business. #2 had a bit of a rash when I had picked him up at daycare, and the daycare lady and I both thought he was coming down with chicken pox, as #1 had just gotten over them.
Around midnight, I woke up, feeling that I must go check on #2. I looked in his crib and didn't recognize him. His little face was swelled, and he had red blotches all over his body. I woke up my Hillbilly Mama, and we decided immediately to take him to the ER. It was only 10 minutes away.
#2 was having an allergic reaction to amoxycillin, which he was taking for an ear infection. They worked on him for 2 hours, trying to get an IV in, and couldn't. The nurses were mad at the doctor, telling me (behind the DR's back) that THEY know you can't get an IV into a little baby all that easy. I can't remember if they gave him something in a shot, or orally, but they finally got their way. Too bad my baby had to wait 2 hours for the DR to be convinced.
Anyhoo...what if I hadn't woken up? Another time when he was about 4, I woke up wanting to check on him, and he had just vomited. He was lying on his back, with it all over his chest and face. I grabbed him out of bed so he didn't choke, and cleaned him up.
I always go check when I get that Momdar feeling. Better safe than sorry.
Chick,
I, too, sing the praises of Ameristar's brunch. I'll do a post about it. I was already too long-winded in Cazzie's reply.
I love casinos....
And I've missed your blog.....
I hate being busy.
Diva,
How dare you work when you could sit around drinking Sonic soda all day, reading my wit and wisdom? Methinks you need to get your priorities in order, Missy!
